Life in the city should offer more opportunities and freedom, but the old strict traditions seem to crush them and make them suffer: Prabha lived for more than a year depressed and half-mad, waiting for a call from her husband them, who does not have seems to exist; Anu has to see her good friend secretly because he is Muslim and according to tradition the husband is chosen by the parents.
